We went out the wrong (unfamiliar) exit out of the metro and walked around an entire block to find the National Mall when we really could have just walked straight across the street... You can tell we do this a lot. Anyways, the museums hadn't opened yet when we got there, so we walked around the streets and gardens.
We decided to go to the Hirshhorn because a few of our friends went during a field trip and recommended it.

Surprise, surprise, the lobby itself was an art exhibit!

While perusing through yelp the other day we found a place we really wanted to eat at, Basil Thyme. It was only at lunch did we realize that said "restaurant" was actually a food truck too far from walking distance. Instead, we went to the row of food trucks down 7th street (maybe next THYME basil thyme aha aha tell me im funny).
After walking past all the food trucks to scope out all our lunch options, we decided on trying some Greek food. Dorothy got a gyro on pita ($6.99), Yuki got chicken and gyro on pita ($7.99), we had a sort of picnic on the grass in front of the trucks. Being gyro first-timers we didn't really know what to expect...
Yuki: was not aware gyro had lamb... was not aware chicken did not replace lamb but rather added into the gyro... I dislike lamb meat so that didn't quite work out for me. Tasted pretty decent though, serving was huge and things definitely got messy. 2.5/5 was a fun experience but would rather try new things than order that again.
Final rating: 6/10
CREPE SIGHTING! We split a crepe from Crepes Parfait. The chef dudes were dressed in cutesy French outfits and their truck had a sort of rustic feel to it, definitely more aesthetically appealing than the other trucks. We ordered their sweet special, crepe with blueberries and almond creme fraiche, which was $7.99.

Studies have shown that the most efficient exercise is carouseling obviously, so we took a $3.50 spin to burn some crepes off. Something really nostalgic about it... the fact that the carousel was built in '81 probably added to that too.
Merry go round selfies. Totally necessary.
Our last stop was more of a spontaneous decision: USDA farmers market. We spotted it coming out of the metro but didn't really think we would check it out, so glad we did though. Tasted some incredible honey samples made from bees that pollinate the national gardens. Seriously, in a whole other league from store bought honey.
It was calling out to us, guys |

Here, have another one of us goofing on the carousel |
Basically the perfect way to start the summer off, and we can't wait to go back next week for the festival!
So tell us...
- Do you guys take ratchet bathroom mirror pics as well?? Or is that just us?
- Have you guys had food truck experiences before? How did those go?
- How long has it been since you've last been on a kiddy ride?
Till next time (very soon)
P.S. wow we were not expecting writing a blog post to be this time consuming lol
