Brandy Melville dupes and lookalikes

We love Brandy Melville's style of clothing, but unfortunately their locations are sparse and the selections online and at PacSun are very limited.

BUT YOU ARE IN LUCK, because we found a bunch of similar or almost exact duplicates of Brandy Melville items from more widely available stores that do carry more than one size, many are less expensive as well, so enjoy!!

Brandy Melville Chiyo Top, $19 // Forever 21 Luxe Caged Bustier, $9.80

Brandy Melville Giselle Top, $16 // American Eagle Cropped Tee, $19.95

Brandy Melville Heather Skirt, $30 // Garage Ditsy Floral Chiffon Skirt, $29.90

(These two skirts would probably feel pretty different though - Brandy's is a cotton-viscose blend and Garage's is 100% polyester)

Brandy Melville Jada Dress, $35 // Forever 21 Rosebud Dress, $17.80

Brandy Melville Bethan Dress, $29 // Urban Outfitters Sparkle & Fade Wrap-Back Skater Dress, $29.99

Brandy Melville Sadie Love Child Tank, not available // Forever 21 Los Angeles Dreamer Tank, $11.80

Brandy Melville Headdress Tank, not available // Love Culture Headdress Muscle Tee, $12.90

Brandy Melville LA Bones Tank, $20 // Love Culture Boney LA Muscle Tank, $12.95

For basic skater skirts and crop tops, many stores like Garage and Forever 21 carry almost the exact duplicates but for cheaper. Feel free to comment with any of your own Brandy Melville lookalike finds!!

Out&About | Fishes, food, and the district

taking selfies to a whole other level at the nat aq
So we said we were going to visit the Folklife Festival last week, and we went last Saturday... sort of (wow this is a week late oops). To be honest, we probably should've given it more of a chance, but walking in, there weren't really any extravagant shows or displays we were expecting, more like white tents everywhere. We can't really give a fair review of the festival because we didn't really try anything out. From a quick glance around we saw a lot of dancing and singing, but one thing that really captured our eyes was the huge "Chicken and Waffles" sign. (We'll save the more adventurous exotic stuff for next time, promise)

chicken - yes
waffles - yes
chicken & waffles - hyfr
We ordered a chicken and waffles classic, which was literally waffles with powdered sugar and chicken on top. We paired it with some savory BBQ sauce and syrup. Fried chicken dipped in maple syrup and waffles dipped in BBQ sauce are a lot better than you would expect!!

I made lamingtons without Natalie Tran's help

I found Natalie Tran's videos a few months ago, the day before I had a huge project due. That night I watched about 50 of her videos or so, no joke (I cried later when I was finishing my project past midnight).

At first I was really confused about all the lamington talk in her comments. Turns out, in a video made about four years ago, Natalie Tran aka communitychannel promised a lamington tutorial. And in these four years there has been no lamington how-to video, but there have been ones featuring lamingtons to taunt her viewers.

Then yesterday my mom wanted to make sponge cake so obv I stole half of it to make lamingtons! These are incredibly inauthentic.... ""Forgot"" to toast the coconut, used a chocolate toffee candy bar as the dipping chocolate, etc etc. You can blame Nat for not teaching me properly.

Out&About | National Mall

#dreamteam

The first Friday of summer break, we went to DC to do touristy things while trying to act like we weren't really tourists. We saw the Folklife Festival being set up a week ago, and were originally going to spend most of our time at it... except it hadn't started yet oops (but we're going back next week!!)
